GICC Girls Down St Cecilia - Advance To The Championship

(Hastings, NE) - A quick start to the game and a big third quarter for the GICC girl's basketball game would lead to a 42-32 win on Thursday night at Hastings St Cecilia in the Centennial Conference semi-final contest.  The Crusaders would start the game 11-0 and hold the Hawkettes scoreless until the 2:58 mark of the 1st quarter. GICC would lead 13-4 after the end of the 1st quarter. St Cecilia would climb back into the game only to trail 17-13 with 1:13 left before the halftime break.  The Crusaders would have a 19-14 lead at the half and in the 3rd quarter would go on a 13-2 run to to lead 32-16 heading to the fourth quarter. St Cecilia did outscore GICC in the fourth quarter 16-10. The two teams will meet up again this season in Grand Island on February 8th. 

St Cecilia is now 11-3. GICC with the win is now 15-1 on the season and will play in the Centennial Conference championship game at 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 27th at Hastings St Cecilia. The Crusaders will take on Lincoln Christian (14-1) who defeated Bishop Neumann (13-2) on Thursday night in the second semi-final game by a score of 55-36. Central Catholic's lone loss of the season comes to Lincoln Christian on December 15th 74-42.
