Board Of Health Recommends Mask Policy To City Council
*Audio version of the meeting recap available at the bottom of the story*
The newly established board of health met at noon this afternoon and unanimously voted to recommend an indoor mask policy for the Grand Island City Council to take up at their meeting tonight.
Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele recommended an indoor mask policy last week that mirrors the two policies passed in Hastings and Kearney saying without a mask policy in place, he fears businesses could face another shutdown from the state level.
The board of Health consists of Mayor Roger Steele, Council President Mike Paulick, Police Chief Robert Faldorf. Plus two members selected by the Mayor who serves as chair of the health board. Mayor Steele selected the Director of the Central District Health Department Teresa Anderson and Dr. Rebecca Stenke.
If the indoor mask policy is approved by the council tonight Mayor Steele says there will be an added emphasis on educating the public before violations are enforced.
The City Council meets at 7pm.
