Back to School Vaccinations

Time: 8:00

Phone: 308-345-1790

After the 2019 winter in Southwest Nebraska/Northwest Kansas, everyone was eagerly looking forward to spring and, of course, summer vacation! Many are already engaged in
a variety of summer camps, 4-H projects, swimming, baseball and softball! Life is always busy and it may seem that you are forever on the run but there is one thing that you will
definitely want to do this summer! Your summer camps may prepare you for fall and winter sports but equally, if not more, important is preparing your child for the next school year
by keeping them current with their vaccinations!

There are certain vaccines that are required by the State of Nebraska before the student is able to return to class in the fall. Don’t procrastinate until the School Nurse sends a note home with your child that says he/she cannot come to school the next day! Even if your child is otherwise up-to-date with immunizations, there are certain required vaccines that
must be given before Kindergarten, 7th grade and first year of college. Other optional vaccines are also available.

The Red Willow County Health Department, located at the fairgrounds in McCook, is ready to assist with these vaccinations. Most insurance companies/policies cover the cost
of the vaccines as a part of their preventative programs. We accept BC/BS, Midlands Choice, Medica, Regional Care, Aetna, United Health Care and UMR. We also provide
state-funded vaccines at no cost for those children who are eligible. If you have questions or wish to schedule an appointment, please feel free to contact us. Our telephone number is 308-345-1790. Our hours are from 8:00 – 4:00 on Monday through Friday.

Nominations Now Being Accepted for Farm Service Agency County Committee

Time: .

Phone: (308) 345-4163

(McCook Nebraska), July 3, 2019 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA)

Executive Director Kenneth Carriker in Red Willow-Frontier County is reminding farmers, ranchers and landowners that nominations for the 2019 FSA County Committee election are due by Aug. 1.

The FSA County Committee candidate nomination period began on June 14, 2019. Nomination forms must be postmarked or received in the Red Willow-Frontier County FSA office by close of business on Aug. 1, 2019.

For election purposes, counties are divided into local administrative areas (LAAs). Each LAA nominates and elects one producer to serve a three-year term on the FSA County Committee. Each year an election is held in an LAA’s where a committee member’s three-year term is expiring.

For 2019, nominations and elections for Red Willow-Frontier County will be held in local administrative area-2 and local administrative area-4. Area 2 is the eastern ½ of Frontier County and includes the townships of Clearwater, Earl, Fairview, Garfield, Grant, Horrell, Knowles, Logan, Muddy, Orafino, Plum Creek, Russell, Sherman. Area-4 is the southwestern 1/3 of Red Willow County and includes the townships of Bondville, Danbury, Driftwood, Grant, Gerver & Valley Grange.

“Farmers and ranchers in LAA-2 and LAA-4 are urged to participate in this year’s county committee elections by nominating candidates by the Aug. 1, 2019, deadline,” said Carriker “County committees are unique to FSA and allow producers to have a voice on federal farm program implementation at the local level.”

To be eligible to serve on an FSA County Committee, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and reside in the LAA in which the person is a candidate.

Farmers and ranchers may nominate themselves or others. Organizations representing minorities and women also may nominate candidates. To become a candidate, an eligible individual must sign an FSA-669A nomination form. The form and other information about FSA county committee elections are available at, or contact the Red Willow Frontier County FSA office at (308) 345-4163.

Nationwide, there are approximately 7,800 farmers and ranchers serving on FSA county committees. These individuals make decisions on disaster and conservation programs, emergency programs, commodity price support loan programs and other agricultural issues. Committees consist of three to 11 members who are elected by eligible producers.

For more information on the FSA County Committee election, contact the Red Willow-Frontier County FSA office at (308) 345-4163.
